In 1984, JSS Medical College was established by JSS Mahavidyapeetha and JSS University. The college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka. The college has been recognized by the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, UK. It is spread over 43 acres of land. The courses offered here are recognized by the Medical Council of India, General Medical Council (UK), Sri Lanka Medical Council and WHO. It offers under graduate, post-graduate, PhD and diploma programs in field of Medicine. The goal of the college is to provide moral and ethical values to students, value based education which will help them in all walks of life.

The candidates’ applying for UG courses should have passed the two year PUC examination with 50% aggregate (for SC/ST it is 40%), conducted by the PUC Board of Karnataka State with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics as optional subjects OR any other examination recognized as equivalent by the Mysore University/RGUHS.
Preference will be given to the merit students. Candidates’ applying for PG course should have passed MBBS examination after pursuing a degree in a Medical College, recognized by the Medical Council of India or who has obtained a permanent registration of any State Medical Council.
The candidates’ applying for PhD degree should have obtained their Master’s Degree in the concerned subject of this University like M.Sc (Medical), M.D, M.S., M.H, D.N.B, D.M., or a degree considered as an equivalent one by the RGUHS.
Candidates’ applying for para medical or diploma courses should have passed PUC or its equivalent examination with Science Subjects. SSLC students can also apply. Their age limit should be between 15 to 35 years.
Facilities and Infrastructure:

The library provides access to huge number of books for reference to the students. The classrooms are equipped with modern amenities. The seminar halls and the auditorium are provided with LCD projectors, hi-fi audio visual facilities.
The College canteen is a popular meeting place for students in between the busy class schedule. It is a hub for brainstorming session, innovative ideas and other student activities. The computer centre is well advanced with Wi-fi with high internet speed.
The laboratories are well equipped with modern equipments. The Pre-clinical and Para-clinical labs are well equipped. There is a museum located in the campus. Bharath Hospital & Cancer Research Centre, Mysore, and JSS Hospital are associated with the college and is facilitating the services to the needed and the poor at a larger proportion.
